Minicabs in London keep screaming out about more concessions such as bus lanes to enable them to compete against real Taxis, so lets start with a 100% WAV ph fleet.

That's goodye to about 20'000 of them.

They aren't are they? If a normal person with a buggy wanted a 8 seater minibus they'd be charged same as the disabled person.

I don't think that this is what is happening though. People in wheelchairs ar being charged more than people who are not in wheelchairs. That is illegal.

So if a person phones up off the same street as the disabled person and asks for a minibus with a tail lift because they've got a buggy which they're bone idle to put down and are charged a £10 flat fee because the mini bus had to travel 5 miles to the job. The disabled person is charged the same as the person with the buggy what's the problem?

The problem is when a person or group of people are charged LESS than the disabled person for the same vehicle. If the same charges apply to everyone there is not a problem.

Not exactly.
They can't charge a disabled person more than an able bodied person for the same vehicle. If a journey is £5.00 for an able bodied person then the same journey must be £5.00 for a disabled person.
That may be so, but is a PH operator COMPELLED to provide a vehicle to anyone?

That's what I though.

So what's the Middlesborough guy doing wrong if he ain't providing a vehicle because he does not have to?

Bang on right Mr GBC.!

But the cab trade don't see that.

100% WAV fleets for all I say, PH and HC!

Then, and only then, do we have a level playing field!

And with PH having to be 100% WAV, let's see them sticking to their uneconomical fares then.

That would be ridiculous. There are so many different types of private hire work from the ordinary stuff to executive travel, airport transfers, stretched limousines and a whole host of others.

100% WAVs and 100% taxis, 0% saloons and 0% PHVs.

That's the true level playing field.

And a pi55 poor ride if you are going more than 5 miles.

I'll settle for that!

Them saloon type WAVs could be better, especially on the driver's pocket.
