Trouble For Aylesbury's "Taxi" Drivers AgainAylesbury taxi drivers have been getting in trouble again, with inspectors finding broken and untaxed vehicles.
In the latest round of spot-checks, police officers found drivers not displaying their license, missing first aid kits and faulty fire extinguishers.
One car's been taken off the road, with nine other drivers given warnings of penalties.
TVP and AVDC have an ongoing plan to raise standards among the private hire trade and a number of partner agencies and local operators are helping us to ensure a fully inclusive and supportive process.
AVDC Licensing Manager Peter Seal said:
“The new ‘Fare4All’ scheme was launched this month with the support of many taxi and private hire companies. It is sad that in the same month we still find others letting the side down.”
Insp Kelly Glister added:
“We will continue to work with the licensing team and operators to deliver a service to the community that we can all be proud of.
“This will include enforcement operations to ensure compliance of licensing expectations and motor vehicle legislation.”
The full results of the operation two weekends ago were:
•Seven drivers were issued with warnings for a variety of issues such as not wearing their badge, an expired fire extinguisher and having no first aid kit.
•One vehicle was taken off the road because it had no valid tax.
•Two fixed penalty notices were issued in relation to two vehicles with defective lights.
