My post on What do they know Once again.
Did you get a licence renewal reminder?
Incidentally, when I foned licensing to ask why I hadn't received a reminder, I was told by the male respondent that the council had changed its policy and was no longer sending out reminders.
Yet FOI tells us that no such policy change had taken place.
So was the council employee lying, or is he just inadequately trained?
Or, is Higgins lying?
And, is it a coincidence if others have received reminders, but I, who am seeking to hold the council to account by exposing how they employ punishment processes that breach human rights, curiously was the only one not to receive a reminder?
The City of Edinburgh Council elect to send Taxi Driver Licence renewals to existing licence holders as a courtesy and not as a requirement of the legislation. Reminders are issued in batches however we do not retain copies of the correspondence. No other licence holder has advised us that they have not received a reminder and there is nothing within our system which would prevent a reminder having been sent to you at the appropriate time.
In the circumstances I can offer no explanation for non-delivery of the reminder. As you may be aware, as part of an organisational review and continuing improvement to service, we have recently upgraded the IT system within the Licensing Department and, in future, a record of such correspondence will be maintained. I hope the lack of a reminder did not inconvenience you on this occasion.
