Newcastle taxi driver has conviction for refusing to take a fare quashed by a judge

Newcastle taxi driver Mohammed Ramzan appealed against his conviction at Newcastle Crown Court

A taxi driver has had his conviction for refusing to take a passenger on a journey in Newcastle City centre overturned by a judge.

Mohammed Ramzan, 42, of Kingsley Avenue, Melton Park, Newcastle, appealed against his conviction of ‘fare refusal’ after Newcastle City Council prosecuted him on May 14 at Newcastle Magistrates’ Court.

However at an appeal hearing at Newcastle Crown Court on October 3, Mr Ramzan had his conviction quashed.
