Northampton private hire driver accused of raping a female passenger

A private hire driver in Northampton has appeared in court charged with raping a female passenger.

Abdul Shohid, aged 44, of Overstone Road, The Mounts, Northampton, appeared at Northampton Crown Court after he was charged with sexually assaulting two women on January 1 this year.

At a hearing at Northampton Magistrates’ Court in February he indicated a not guilty plea to these two charges.

At Northampton Crown Court on Wednesday he was told he faces a further charge of rape.

The case was adjourned until a plea and case management hearing in October. Shohid was released on bail.
