lorries don't stop as fast as cars so not a good ideaThe dashcam footage shows a taxi driver from Steve's Taxis in Huntingdon slowing suddenly in front of a lorry, forcing the HGV driver to swerve
hocking footage shows a taxi driver from a Cambridgeshire company braking in front of a lorry after being held up on the A1139.
The dashcam footage shows a taxi driver from Steve's Taxis in Huntingdon waiting behind a lorry on the right-hand lane in Fletton Parkway, Peterborough, which has a 60mph speed limit. The lorry appears to pull out of the left lane in front of the taxi.
For the remainder of the clip, the lorry struggles to get back into the left-hand lane due to the speed of the taxi.
Johann Yorke, who witnessed the incident, told the News: "The taxi brake tests the lorry because he was upset at being held up for all of less than 30 seconds.
"When will these idiots realise how dangerous this kind of driving is?
"It's a company I won't be using with drivers like this on the payroll. Could have ended with carnage."
The video has been shared on Facebook, which has been seen by more than 70,000 people.
Julie Jones, head of HR for Steve’s Taxis, said: "Steve’s Taxis do not condone poor driving in any circumstances, however the viewers of this particular clip does not see what led up to this incident.
"Steve’s taxi drivers undergo DVLA driving tests like everyone else, they then take the blue lamp trust driving test, followed by an in-house assessment before being allowed to convey customers.
"We have reviewed the clip very carefully and have spoken to the driver concerned, and it has been dealt with in-house.
to be fair I think he was probably reacting to traffic and as someone who knows this stretch of road VERY WELL left hand lane is often full of slow trafficthat said I normally stick to the outside lane at this point unless i'm headed for Hampton in which case I patiently sit behind the slow traffic
