The taxi firm is investigating the incident

A taxi was filmed driving on the wrong side of the road outside a school in South Wigston, it's been alleged.

The incident, which is said to have taken place in Blaby Road, reportedly shows a taxi driving head into oncoming traffic on the wrong side of the road.

The video shows Robbie Price, who captured the footage on his dashcam, braking sharply to avoid colliding with the oncoming vehicle.

Queens Taxis, based in Oadby, acknowledged the incident, which allegedly involved one of their drivers.

The firm has also thanked the member of the public for making them aware.

Carl Ghelani, owner of the taxi company said: "All of our drivers work on a self employed basis and are subject to the strict local authority licensing conditions.

"We would like to thank the member of the public for bringing the footage to our attention.

"We take matters of road safety very seriously and are currently investigating this with the driver of the vehicle."

Usual mountain out of a molehill this one - driver obviously taking a chance on overtaking queueing traffic to turn right, misjudged it and/or too aggressive.

But the driver with the dashcam also a bit too aggressive in my opinion - the taxi was clearly indicating right and was easily visible, and the dashcam driver could have pulled up before the junction to let him in - that would have been easier all round.

Maybe also instructive that the dashcam driver didn't seem to check his speed slightly when approaching the light-controlled crossing - just before he gets there, there are people crossing on green, while the view of anyone else who might be crossing is totally obscured by the large van stopped over the crossing.

So all in all not exactly defensive driving by the dashcam driver, and he seems to think that two wrongs do make a right.

But of course despite an obvious error by the taxi driver, it's all his fault and dashcam driver couldn't have done any better [-(

(Watched the video in two different browsers, and one was a bit jerky, and the above didn't maybe show so well - if the video runs smoothly the speeds etc become more apparent.)

taxis are often targetted by aggressive motorists who think we should all hide out of the way until there isn't a car in sight they see the taxi coming and floor the accelerator to cut you off even when it is your right of way. Car driver should have slowed for the pedestrians anyway and was clearly speeding

I'm sure there wasn't a real problem the car could have just been a little more patient

I have to say that that sort of maneuver is commonplace round here except it is the taxi has to stop for the car being aggressive

Once again it's always the cabby at fault.

What if the driver was rushing a patient or doctor to hospital, or someone desperate to get to the station.

In short none of us are perfect, me especially.

I wonder how far the driver drove on the wrong side though. It is a long queue and with a bend in the road.
