My title for the thread is completely different to the portayal here, for obvious reasons :-o

This goes on a bit, it's about a London DJ and Uber driver, on WalesOnline, and the photo(s) are credited to a news agency.

So I'm guessing it's one of those synicated things that's basically the media manufacturing a big splash about, er, not very much.

A DJ was stunned when an Uber driver handed over her phone as she climbed into his taxi - eight months after she left it there.

Shay Sade claims her 'faith in humanity was restored' by the 'crazy miracle' after her incredible chance encounter with the same driver on April 30, who said he'd been hanging on to her phone in case he bumped into her again.

The 27-year-old had been making her way home from a night out in London in late August when she lost her iPhone 6.

Despite trying to retrace her footsteps in a bid to be reunited with the phone, Shay was gutted to be forced to admit defeat as the device had sentimental photos on it.

However, she was left gobsmacked when she clambered into an Uber a fortnight ago only to be handed her 'prodigal' phone.

Sharing her incredible story on Twitter, Shay's tweet racked up more than 15,000 retweets and 200,000 likes - however, it was deemed so uncanny by some that many didn't believe her and branded Shay a 'liar'.

But the broadcaster was unfazed and said she is opting to 'ignore' those who don't believe her - hoping her story shows that 'humans can be good and nice'.

Shay, from Kingston, south London, said: "It's restored my faith in humanity. It made me feel like people are nice - there are nice people out there.

"I've lost things in the past and people have used it or done stuff with it.

"This is the first time a stranger has done something like this, he didn't have to, I just thought 'wow, you're such a nice human being'.

"I wanted to do something nice in return, I think it's good karma and good energy. I just wanted to give him some chocolates or a thank-you card.

"When somebody steals your phone in London, that's it. You don't expect somebody to hand your phone in or keep a hold of it for that long.

"I honestly thought that if anybody had found it, they would have stolen it, sold it or done something with it.

"It made my day. I was so shocked and emotional, because that phone meant so much to me. I have so many memories on that phone.

"It felt like such a relief to get it back. I just thought 'this is a crazy miracle'."

On the night Shay lost her phone, she'd hopped in multiple Ubers and had no idea which one she may have left her phone in.

Shay said: "I was out with my friends to get drinks and shisha and I was in a rush to meet them.

"I remember having both phones out on the table at the shisha bar, then I don't remember what happened to them after that.

"I remember getting into multiple Ubers and the minute I got home, that's when I realised I didn't have my phone anymore.

"On the night, I'd gotten an Uber from my house to the shisha bar, an Uber from the shisha bar to a shop, an Uber from the shop to this other place.

"I don't know at what point this man was my Uber driver.

"I was searching my entire room, through my bag. I used my other phone to call the shisha place first, but they didn't have it.

"I tried calling the phone I'd lost but it wouldn't ring. I kept ringing, but I knew how temperamental that phone was and that it was going to switch off at any minute.

"I tried to contact Uber, but I couldn't even remember which Uber I'd been in when I lost it. I went through multiple Ubers that day.

"So, in the end, I just assumed it was lost outside or lost in my house, so for months I was looking around my house. In the end, I called up O2 to cancel my contract.

"Months pass by and I got into another Uber. He took a while to set off, and I was confused as to why.

"He was rummaging through the glove compartment for ages, and then he said, 'I've got something for you... here's your phone'.

"Honest to god I was thinking 'what the hell?' Every part of me was like 'what?'"

Since sharing her story online, Shay has been on the receiving end of a lot of criticism from sceptics believing she's making it up.

Shay said: "People just think I'm making this up and that I'm lying.

"You could be telling the most honest story and people will want to make out like you're chatting absolute rubbish.

"A lot of the comments I was getting were from people saying, 'he's a creep, he's a weirdo' but to me he was a normal everyday guy who was just being nice.

"I've had people messaging me on Instagram, tagging me in comments, laughing at me and calling me a liar.

"But a lot of these people are just trolls with nothing better to do, so I'm just going to ignore it.

"I find it quite sad that people don't believe humans can be good and nice.

"I'm not saying I'm famous, but it also made me realise what it must be like for famous people, who are under constant scrutiny.

"I just thought people would be really happy and positive about it - and it did start off like that.

"People in my circle of friends thought it was amazing and were so happy for me."

Hundreds of people have responded to Shay's tweet with some cynicism.

Dominique Samuels tweeted: "This sounds like bulls**t lol."

Twitter user @BassManTrashCan said: "On today's episode of things that didn't happen."

Okey Udechukwu tweeted: "Dude picked you up just once and recognised you after 8 months?

"You didn't try or attempt calling your line when you noticed it went missing? After dropping you and noticed you forgot your phone, he couldn't take it back to the place he dropped you?"

However, other people believed Shay's story and shared her sentiments that the Uber driver had gone above and beyond in his job.

Twitter user @UNCUJAY tweeted: "In the wrong hands, that phone would have exchanged hands a few times in the last eight months.

"News like this restores my faith in humanity. We still have good people out there after all."

A former Uber driver Loren Jones wrote: "I drove Uber in 2016. A guy left his iPhone in the car.

"I wound up driving over an hour away to give it back to him a day later. We [are] out here. Ha.

"Glad you got your phone back."

Twitter user @hopelessboy234 tweeted: "Why are so many people fighting so hard about if this story is true or not? I mean, it's entertaining to watch and all but I don't see what's the point.

"Also I really don't think this person just woke up someday and decided to post lies just because. Glad you got it back btw."

Twitter user @Kareemcares tweeted: "This testimony encourages me a lot. I mean, all the way in Jamaica, this blessed me. Thank you for sharing this. Truly, good people are living among us."

An Uber spokesperson said: “We’re delighted to see the passenger has had her phone returned, and that the driver kindly held onto the device until he saw her again.

"Passengers who think they may have left their items behind on an Uber journey needn’t worry: they can immediately contact their driver through the Uber app, and their number is anonymised so they can get in touch without sharing any personal information.

"Uber’s support team is available 24 hours a day through the ‘Help’ section of the app in the event the passenger is unable to contact the driver.”

Well you certainly keep reading my posts

But if people don't want to read them, then they'll just not read them, so no need to state the obvious :-s

And, guess what, if people who don't want to read my posts don't, er, read them, then I'm cock-a-hoop =D>

And he didn't consider it the best thing to hand to in to the police, which I suspect is what his licensing conditions state.
