Just as an update SKDC has now decided NOT to revise the default rate stating that it's now up to proprietors to set their own rates

In other words they want all the taxis on the rank to be on differing rates which is what the public don't want

How do you know it’s what the public don’t want?

quite sure people hate not knowing what the meter starts on or their journey being a very different price each time they much prefer all the taxis to be the same

Do all the pubs charge exactly the same for a pint of beer? Do all the shops charge exactly the same for a box of cornflakes? You have a weird set of clientele in the Deep South.

does every Hackney in Lincoln have a different meter rate or are they all set the same ? how would the punters react if every one was a different meter rate ?

All hacks in Lincoln are set at the same rate, that much is true.

How would punters react if everyone was set at different rates? Well, many of them think they are set at different rates. Lincoln is 100% wav. But the sizes vary from the VW Caddy, through LTI to the bigger seven seaters. Single punters are convinced the bigger vehicles must be more expensive to travel in. So that’s your questions answered. In your district why don’t you have stickers on the doors stating the flagfall, increments, and price per mile? A race to the bottom? Probably. But outside your district you can charge as little, or as lottle, as you wish. If you charge £50 to East Midlands, will your competitors charge more, or less? In Lincoln I only worry about me. I’m an ego warrior, it’s all about me! (And the Imps, a win at Burton yesterday)

Can you imagine the fighting that would be going on as the punter goes up and down the rank negotiating the best price. =D> =D> =D> =D> =D> =D> =D> =D>

Think that happens in many areas in respect of out of town work.
