Yet another case in this thread that has nothing to do with the trade, so for most will be of zero interest.
But just putting this up here for reference, because wasn't aware of this case, and this means two pedestrian fatalities in Leven in less than three years, then the two lads who died in the car crash.
According to Wikipedia, Leven's population is around 9,000. Which is a lot smaller than St Andrews, but can't really imagine four fatalities like this in St Andrews in less than three years
But now another related fatality (in prison) but apart from that it's fairly standard boy racer stuff
Most interesting thing at the time, though, was why his girlfriend was so desparate to claim she was the one driving the car when it hit the pedestrian. I mean, she was obviously sayint that so she could claim on her insurance, but I mean some risk to take when a pedestrian has just died.

Image: DC ThomsonA man who killed a pensioner at a Fife Retail Park has died while serving his prison sentence.Speeding motorist Gregg Anderson was jailed for six years after killing a 68-year-old pedestrian at Leven’s Riverside Retail Park while he was at the wheel of a white Mazda 2.
An inquiry will take place after the 30-year-old was found dead in prison on Boxing Day.
Anderson was travelling at almost 40mph in the 20mph zone on October 29 in 2017 when he collided with Methil woman Linda Dunn.
Prior to the fatal collision, which happened at around 3.45pm, he had ignored ‘no entry’ signs and drove the wrong way in a pedestrian area.

A judge told Anderson, then aged 27, at the High Court in Edinburgh: “It was clear you thought you could behave as you liked, ignoring the road traffic laws.”
On Sunday, Anderson, who was serving time at HMP Glenochil in Clackmannanshire, died.
A Scottish Prison Service spokesperson said: “Gregg Anderson, 30, a prisoner from HMP Glenochil has died on 26 December 2021.
“He was convicted at Edinburgh High Court in 2018.
“Police Scotland have been advised and the matter reported to the Procurator Fiscal.
“A Fatal Accident Inquiry will be held in due course.”
Admitted causing deathAnderson, of East Wemyss, admitted causing the death of Miss Dunn by driving dangerously at excessive speed and failing to observe the pedestrian crossing at Aitken Street, in Leven.
He also admitted driving without insurance or a licence.
Lord Uist said Anderson had knocked down and killed an innocent pedestrian and CCTV footage played to the court showed his “arrogant attitude of indifference” to road traffic legislation.
The judge ordered he should be banned from driving for seven and a half years from 2021 and resit the driving test.
A statement from Miss Dunn’s family read: “Linda will be sadly missed by her family and friends.”

Former dental nurse Tiegan Carruthers, then aged 20, was seen after the crash screaming and crying and saying she was “going to jail”.
Anderson further pled guilty to attempting to defeat the ends of justice by providing false information to police stating Carruthers was the driver in a bid to avoid detection and prosecution.
Carruthers, also then of the village’s Alexander Street, admitted permitting Anderson to drive without him having appropriate insurance.
She also admitted pretending to insurers that she was the driver at the time of the fatal collision and inducing the firm to provide her with a courtesy car and obtaining the use of it by fraud and attempting to pervert the course of justice.
She had already been suspended by the General Dental Council because she was a risk to the public and was later struck off.
For lying to police, she was ordered to complete 225 hours of unpaid work.

The dental nurse told police she was driving in blinding sunlight and said: “I couldn’t see anything. Then she hit off the bonnet first, then the windscreen, then off. I went into shock and my partner grabbed the wheel and pulled the car to the side.”
Carruthers later maintained to insurers that she was the driver and got a courtesy car after telling them: “The police have already told me it’s not my fault and there’s nothing for me to worry about but I’m not going to get charged with anything against me.
“It’s a complete accident and the lady walked out in front of me.”
Her partner Gregg Anderson, 26, who was driving at nearly double the speed limit of 20mph, told police: “Tiegan was driving slowly perhaps at 20mph or less because the sun was very low and dazzling.”
He said that after the collision she could not open her door so he climbed over and opened it and got out “her side”.
The High Court in Edinburgh heard that when police began examining CCTV from Leven town centre following the fatal crash on October 29 last year they realised that Anderson had been driving the Mazda car.
Police made a press appeal for witnesses and members of the public came forward and gave information that a man was the driver with a female passenger.
Warehouseman Anderson was interviewed again by police and accepted that he drove part of the car journey that day but persisted that he was not the driver at the time of the collision.
His girlfriend was also questioned and initially claimed that she was the driver but after she was presented with contradictory evidence she said Anderson was driving.
Advocate depute Alex Prentice QC told the court: “The truth being that the accused Carruthers permitted Anderson to drive without a licence or insurance, that she repeatedly gave the police false information and deceived Direct Line into providing her with a courtesy car.
“The accused Anderson drove the car dangerously, without a licence or insurance and he repeatedly provided false information to the police regarding his role in the matter.”
