Teen girl arrested after taxi driver hit over head with glass bottle

https://www.nottinghampost.com/news/loc ... xi-6692364

It was also reported his phone was stolen during the incident

A taxi driver was allegedly hit over the head with a glass bottle following an altercation with a teenage girl.

The incident is said to have happened at around 8.20pm on Thursday (February 17) on Watcombe Road in Mapperley, after the driver had picked up a group of girls.

Midway through the journey he stopped to check details of the fare after reportedly hearing a discussion about payment.

It is then that the altercation is said to have happened, with the girl hitting him over the head with a bottle.

The man was left with cuts to his head, but is now recovering.

It was also reported his phone was stolen during the incident.

Nottinghamshire Police have arrested a 15-year-old girl on suspicion of robbery.

Detective Constable Ben Hensell, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: "Nobody should have to face being subject to violence, especially when they're simply trying to do their job, so it is appalling to hear of this behaviour that has been reported to us.

"Robbery is a serious offence and reports of this will always be followed by a quick and robust response.

"The force is committed to investigating such reports and working proactively through dedicated teams to prevent this from happening.

"Thankfully the man is recovering from his injuries and officers are continuing to offer their support.

"A girl was brought into custody to be questioned about the incident and our enquiries are ongoing.

"Anyone who witnessed the incident or has dash-cam footage or information is asked to call Nottinghamshire Police on 101, quoting incident 713 of February 17 2022."

Interesting headline here, which years ago I would have put down to some sort of error, but now I think it's born of what's now called 'woke' politics, or maybe 'political correctness' twenty years ago.

Woman arrested after Nottingham taxi driver attacked with a bottle

https://westbridgfordwire.com/woman-arr ... -a-bottle/

A woman has been arrested after a taxi driver was hit over the head with a glass bottle.

But otherwise the piece is much the same, and simply uses the term 'girl'.

But, if all you do is read the headline, then the two here give a very different impression as regards the person arrested.

And years ago I recall using the word 'female' when the person in question was at that sort age when it wasn't clear if 'girl' or 'woman' seemed most appropriate.

But terms like that seem particularly loaded these days. At the weekend, for example, in response to one former licensing councillor tweeting about the word 'ladies' making her cringe, another councillor said the word 'female' was 'creepier', and the former licensing councillor agreed.

And, of course, that's before even starting on the whole trans thing, and police potentially taking an interest if you say a female is a woman (or is it the other way round :-o )

Anyhows, mind how you go 8-[

Well hopefully they have got the right person.

What exactly they will do should she be found guilty is anyone's guess. :-k
