How the hell do you make money off that rank . And what is that walkway all about ?

YBB, that's a bit like sitting outside a nightclub at 9am and asking how anyone ever gets any jobs there

Yes, it's a very slow rank, but there's normally a bit more going on than in the Streetview. But most of the runs are about £15-£20 or so, so it's worth waiting a wee while for a run, although you're never going to get rich ranking there, but if you like easy runs and don't mind waiting a long time for them, and maybe like having plenty of time to read books, watch videos etc, then it's a good rank.

(It's a semi-rural station, basically, but because St Andrews isn't on a rail line then effectively it's St Andrews station, which is a 5-mile drive away. It's on the main east coast mainline, so you can get a direct train from there to King's Cross :-o )

Drives me nuts most of the time to be honest, for various reasons, some of which I've touched on before on here plenty of times, so won't bother repeating myself...

The only way into the station is to go over the stairway, which is a pretty conventional stairway of the type you see at rail stations to cross the track (although it's relatively recent as compared to the pre-war or whatever footbridges you'll see at many stations, so it maybe looks a bit more modern...).

The ramps are basically for people who can't manage the stairs, with heavy luggage, say, or the elderly or infirm, or folks in wheelchairs. Sometimes seems to be more cyclists careering along there than people on foot these days, surprise, surprise

This shows the footbridge better - it's the only way in and out of the station without actually crossing the track...

So anyone either entering or exiting the station can either go up the stairs, or up the ramps/walkways if they can't manage the stairs. They both converge at the footbridge, and it's an identical set-up at both sides.

The, er, prayer room is just under the stairs to immediate left of the blue VW taxi, where the two blue pillars are holding up the stairway - it provides a bit of shelter when it's raining :-o

our local station is grade 1 listed and has a vintage footbridge but no disabled access apart from a barrow crossing controlled by locked gates this does work as long as passengers are willing to be patient and wait for the signaller to decide it's safe and unlock the gates (remotely as the box is nowhere near).

it was announced the other week that our station has been shortlisted for new modern disabled access in otherwords either a set of lifts with massive eyesore towers and bridge or a monstrosity like the one at Leuchars. I bet our council will allow it in the interests of progress and inclusivity after all they allowed Network rail to partially replace a grade 1 collyweston slate roof with grey slate  and a canopy whose boards don't match the original.

Well if it was me I'd be praying for a £40 run down to Crail or Anstruther [-o<

Never a dull moment here, though - my main difficulty as regards stuff like that is finding a toilet, and the waiting room/toilets at the station open and close seemingly at random sometimes :x

Just been across, and the whole waiting area and toilets have been closed, for no obvious reason ](*,)

But one of the other drivers said it was because there's an increasing problem with water on the floor because of, er, all the feet washing going on :-o
