A lot of our work is dispatched to the driver when they are out of the district. They can only receive one job at a time. They can't get the next job until they have cleared on the current job.


What system are you referring to, because I have managed fleets of up to 2k vehicles and every system that we used allowed for follow on jobs to be dispatched to a driver when live on another job.

Why are you dispatching a lot of your work to a driver when they are out of district?

Perhaps you should look at how you are dispatching your work, none of what you have said adds up to a smooth operation in my experience.

A follow on job will not show as live until the current job is finished by which time the driver is out of area.
I can't see anyone in my area sending your letter in.

The follow on job will have a time stamp in the data logs showing when the booking was allocated.

Its only a small minority that will not send the letter, I am not interested in them TBH.

In 1924 we didnt have legislation for minicabs, so your response is mute.

Just because there was no legislation it doesn't mean they didn't exist. Akin to ladies of the night.

But my point wasn't about when laws came in or not, but the utter stupidity of expecting a driver to drive 100+ miles to pick up a punter when there is a driver from the same firm 2 minutes away.

Because that happens all the time... unlike the stupidity of drivers permanently being 100 miles away from their licensing authority...

Taxis/PHVs are often out of their area as their local customers like to go on holiday or visit family and friends a long distance away.

It doesn't mean they are rampant cross-border lovers, more they are adhering to their customer requests.

You are assuming the right to roam is akin to the right to stay. They are not.
