A CCTV image has been released after an "intoxicated man" assaulted a taxi driver in St Albans.

Officers have released the picture of a man they would like to speak to in connection with the altercation.

The incident occurred between 11.20pm and 11.28pm on Saturday, November 30, on Beaconsfield Road.

It was reported that the passenger who was intoxicated argued with taxi driver before assaulting him and causing damage to his vehicle.

Fortunately, the victim didn’t suffer any injuries.

The man then got out and walked towards the car and punched the window which caused damage to the window frame.

PC Ryan Coyle said “We are hoping that someone will recognise this man. We would like to speak to him, as we believe he was in the area at the time and can help our investigation.”

You can also report information online at herts.police.uk/report, speak to an operator via online web chat at herts.police.uk/contact or call the non-emergency number 101, quoting crime reference 41/101790/24.

Alternatively, stay anonymous by contacting the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or via their untraceable online form at crimestoppers-uk.org.
