I wonder how many of these drivers are actually licensed by Barnsley? :-k

Uber issues Barnsley warning to drivers

THE largest taxi company in the world has issued a warning to its drivers to not use Hackney taxi ranks in Barnsley.

Drivers for Uber have warned their drivers they may face action by Barnsley Council if they use the ranks.

A statement from Uber said: “It is illegal to stop and wait at taxi ranks at any times, including for pick-ups or drop-offs, unless you have a Hackney Carriage licence.

“If you use a taxi rank without a Hackney Carriage licence, you may face licensing action by Barnsley Council.”

I wonder why Uber doesn't just geo-fence those ranks, which would prevent Uber drivers from being logged on in the vicinity. :-k

probably near some of the best sources of bookings but I'm surprised uber is interested in a town like Barnsley as it's not a university town or a centre for big business or tourism.

Maybe if they changed the word 'may' to 'will' drivers might actually act.
