Talking off 'taxis' hitting pedestrians in Scotland... :-o

But interesting to compare the Scottish Sun's version with the official Police Scotland release.

So the Sun's version is all 'horror hit-and-run', 'emergency crews rushed to the scene', and the boy was 'rushed to hospital'.

Meanwhile, the official version simply says the driver failed to leave details, and the child was 'taken' to hospital rather than 'rushed'.

CROSSING CRASH Boy, 4, in hospital after being struck by taxi in hit-and-run as driver flees scene in Scots city

The youngster was hit at a pedestrian crossing

A FOUR-year-old boy was rushed to hospital after being struck by a taxi in a horror hit-and-run in Edinburgh.

Emergency crews raced to the scene in the capital at around 3.15pm on Tuesday, April 15.

The alarm was raised after police received a report of a crash involving a taxi and a boy on South Gyle Broadway, near to Burne Cruik.

The youngster was hit at a pedestrian crossing.

He was rushed to the Royal Hospital for Children and Young People for treatment to what are described as minor injuries.

The driver of the taxi, described as a black people carrier style, did stop but then drove off towards the South Gyle Access Road without leaving details.

Police are now appealing for the driver to come forward after fleeing the scene.

Constable Kristof Hona said: "We are appealing for the driver, or anyone that knows who the driver is, to come forward.

"If you were in the area at the time and have dash cam footage that could be useful in our investigation, get in touch."

Anyone with information is asked to call 101, quoting reference 2002 of 15 April, 2025.

Appeal after taxi struck child in Edinburgh and failed to leave details

Road traffic police are appealing for the driver of a taxi that struck a child in Edinburgh to come forward.

At 3.15pm on Tuesday, 15 April we received a report of a collision involving a taxi and a four-year-old boy on South Gyle Broadway, near to Burne Cruik.

The child was hit at a pedestrian crossing and taken to The Royal Hospital for Children and Young People for treatment to what are described as minor injuries.

The driver of the taxi, described as a black people carrier style, did stop but then drove off towards the South Gyle Access Road without leaving details.

Constable Kristof Hona said: "We are appealing for the driver, or anyone that knows who the driver is, to come forward.

So, as regards the actual incident, it sounds relatively minor (pardon pun :-| ).

And while the Sun's 'in hospital' in the headline suggests he's had to stay there, nothing in the official version to confirm that - just that the boy was 'taken' to hospital with 'minor injuries'.

But, of course, the big problem is that the driver didn't stop. On the other hand, the injuries are officialy described as 'minor', and he did actually stop, so maybe he thought everything was OK.

Wonder if it actually was a 'taxi', though? 'Black people carrier style' would certainly cover many an Edinburgh HC :?

I'm sure the police will leave no stone unturned as it's in the press .

Driver should have asked if child was OK

You make it sound like it's the press doing the running here, rather than the police putting the story into the press.

Man charged after boy, 4, hit by taxi in Edinburgh

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cp91m2929vro

A 76-year-old man has been charged after a four-year-old boy was hit by a taxi in Edinburgh last week.

The child was taken to Royal Hospital for Children with minor injuries after the incident on South Gyle Broadway, near to Burne Cruick, around 15:15 on 15 April.

Officers previously said the driver of the taxi had stopped after the incident, but then left the scene without giving their details.

Police Scotland said a report would be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.
