Presumably the driver was standing outside the car when the perp here approached him, but it's not 100% clear...

A man who robbed a taxi driver at knife point and punched an elderly man in the face has been jailed. The taxi driver was parked in London Road, St Ives, on 13 December, when Adam McDonnell came up behind him just before 7am and held a knife to his throat.
McDonnell began demanding money before opening the rear passenger door and shoving the 53-year-old inside the taxi.
He took the victim’s mobile phone and two packets of cigarettes from the centre console before returning the knife to his throat once again demanding money.
As the victim raised his hands to shield his face, McDonnell started slashing his hands.
The victim told McDonnell there was money in the boot and as McDonnell left the car to look, he locked himself inside.
McDonnell then smashed the car windows to get back inside and took £250. The victim managed to escape and ran to a nearby house to call for help.
Meanwhile, McDonnell was captured on CCTV entering a nearby garage before heading in the direction of Dunnock Way.
Officers found the 30-year-old hiding inside the loft of a home on the estate alongside the blood splattered clothes he was wearing.
In a separate incident, on 3 September, McDonnell, was wearing a balaclava when he went up behind an 85-year-old man sat on a bench in Berman Park, St Ives.
He hit the man to the side of the face and stole his drone.
McDonnell was later arrested in the town centre with the drone in a backpack.
At Cambridge Crown Court on Wednesday (14 May) McDonnell, of no fixed address, was sentenced to 11 years in prison and an extended licence period of five years after pleading guilty to robbery, grievous bodily harm with intent, possession of a knife in a public place.
Detective Constable Kieran Wickens, who investigated, said: “This was a terrifying experience for both victims. The taxi driver genuinely feared he was going to be stabbed to death in his taxi, while the elderly victim was left battered and bruised.
“While crimes like this are thankfully rare in Cambridgeshire, they are very frightening for victims, and I hope this sentence provides some reassurance to them, their families and the community.”
