At the meeting, Green councillor Liam Calvert argued cameras should become standard, given levels of support from the trade and public.
"It keeps drivers safe from false allegations, it makes our job as a licensing authority very considerably easier because when allegations come and we can very quickly check if an incident occurred or not," he said
"There's nothing not to like."
Nothing not to like?
Where to start with all that? Maybe better not...
But are the magic-money-tree-Greens going to shell out the £1k or near enough per car for the systems?
And, as per the false allegations thing, if drivers are concerned about that then nothing stopping them installing their own security precautions.
Anyway, can't be bothered going into the real nitty gritty of all this.
But the stuff above is presumably entirely coincidental, and absolutely nothing directly to do with the Casey audit and the head of steam building up (on social media at least) over compulsory CCTV.
Rupert Lowe is the latest convert
So that's Rupert, his now sworn enemies at Reform, and the Green councillor here all in favour
