Maybe not infomercial nor advertorial, but there's a sniff about this piece that isn't just about news or human interest.

Maybe it's just me, but it's all in the photos. Which I wouldn't include normally, but just because they help frame the whole article in a certain way :-o

Haven't included the high-res versions of the photos, though. That might be too much detail :x

I initially assumed this was about a trade cock-up, and this was a bit trade-bashing, but to be fair they don't really try to blame the trade.

And my thread title is a tad sarcastic, obviously 8-[

Some odd details, though, and 'Reggie' sounds a bit, er, something or other... :-s

Essex bride hitchhiked after taxi mix up on wedding day

An Essex bride and groom were forced to hitchhike on their wedding day after a taxi mix-up left them without a ride.

Chloe Gardner, 28, from Essex, and her husband George, 31, had travelled to Brighton for their ceremony and had booked a taxi to take them and three others to the registry office.

But the couple forgot to request a larger vehicle, and when a standard taxi arrived, they weren’t going to fit in the taxi.

Mrs Gardner said: "We originally were going to get a black cab, but when we got to Brighton we quickly realised that they don’t do those kinds of black taxis.

"With legal ceremonies, people often get photos in the back, so that was my original plan.

"George tried to call up a fancy car company on the morning of the wedding, but obviously, they were fully booked.

"We decided to book a normal taxi to get us there, but when we did that, we completely forgot there were five of us and we had to request a larger vehicle, so when it turned up, we weren’t going to fit in the taxi."

She told her parents to take the taxi and tried to book an Uber, but no drivers accepted the ride.

With time running out, Mrs Gardner began walking down the street in her wedding dress, hoping to flag down a car.

A Mercedes-Benz driver named Reggie stopped and offered the couple a lift.

Mrs Gardner said: "It was just pure desperation, if I’m being honest.

"I really didn’t want to walk any further in my heels, and I didn’t want to be late.

"I just had to try my luck, and I was going to do anything I could to make sure we got there on time."

The couple made it to the ceremony on time.

Mr Gardner said: "It was my mishap, but Chloe’s been pretty good at shielding me from all of the fault.

"Reggie saved the day."

Aye, they're green and white in Brighton, not black

Although no doubt not many of them around, and maybe none at all these days. But I'm sure someone on here will know :-o
