Not sure why I bothered with this, but thought there might be something interesting in there.

But it's as obvious an example of marketing and advertorial as you're likely to see, complete with three near-identical photos.

A Swindon taxi company wants to help passengers affected by railway disruption over the May bank holiday.

Train services between Bath Spa and Chippenham or Westbury will be replaced by buses from Saturday, May 2 to Monday, May 4, affecting one of the most popular routes from Swindon and prompting many residents to consider staying closer to home.

Taxi operator Veezu, which bought local firm V Cars in 2022, said many Swindon residents are likely to scale back their plans due to the disruption, as well as ongoing budget pressures following Easter and ahead of May half-term.

To help residents make the most of the long weekend, Veezu has launched a free guide to affordable days out.

Nathan Bowles, CEO of Veezu, said: "Bank holidays should be something to look forward to, not a logistical headache.

"With disruption confirmed on routes in and out of Swindon, many residents will be staying local, whether they planned to or not.

"We wanted to show residents just how much is on their doorstep - and make it a little easier and more affordable to go out and explore."

Veezu said it hopes the rail disruption will inspire people to explore new places nearby.

To encourage this, the company is offering ten local residents the chance to win a free return journey to their favourite Swindon destination featured in the guide.

To enter, residents need to share their chosen destination and who they’d take with them by visiting http://bit.ly/4219h0d

Entries close at 7am on Thursday, April 30. Winners will be selected at random and contacted by May 1.

Suggestions in its travel guide on https://www.veezu.co.uk/swindon include an afternoon at Coate Water Country Park, a picnic at Lydiard Park, and a visit to STEAM - the Museum of the Great Western Railway.

Each option includes activities and prices, as well as an estimated food spend, giving residents a clear picture of what a £20-£50 budget can realistically cover.

Swindon's station is the third busiest in South West England and the busiest in Wiltshire, serving nearly three million passenger journeys annually.

However, reliability at Swindon station is a longstanding issue, with only 39 per cent of trains arriving on time.

Last early May bank holiday, Veezu completed over 800 trips to and from bars, pubs and restaurants across Swindon - the most popular were Rudi’s Bar, Longs Bar and The Sir Daniel Arms, which collectively made up nearly 200 drop-offs.
