Not really sure there's much point in announcing this via the press...

And as a member of the trade I'd be more interested in the details and rationale as opposed to the simple fact that it's happening - I mean, presumably this will be communicated to the trade directly and in more detail.

As for the general public :-o

Taxi plates and badges in Denbighshire set to be re-designed

TAXI license plates and driver badges in Denbighshire are in the process of being transferred to a new supplier.

During this process, Denbighshire County Council has also taken the opportunity to re-design the taxi plates and badges.

The council will be rolling out a new taxi driver badge and vehicle plating system in the coming weeks.

As the council moves to this new production system during the next year, residents may notice some differences in the layout and design of taxi driver badges, vehicle plates and door stickers.

This is a normal part of the phased changeover process.

Vehicles will continue to display the current plate design until the next renewal, whereas new to fleet and renewals due from the middle of April onwards will begin receiving the new layout.

Emlyn Jones, the council's head of planning, public protection and countryside service, said: “We would like to notify taxi businesses and service users of the changes we are making to the taxi licensing plates and driver badges.

"We appreciate their patience whilst these changes are being made."

I mean, will any 'service user' really need to know, and will they notice?

With the amount of months out-of-date plates we have up here because of the renewal system the council must be inundated with complaints from the public about vehicles with expired plates on them, and drivers with expired badges :-s

Either that or absolutely no member of the public ever notices them. Or, at least, not the fine detail on them :?
