When I saw the words 'drugs' and 'M6', I assumed it was another one of those
But this one's a bit different.
And presumably he'd lost his 'taxi' licence before the second incident described below.
But not a huge amount of detail in that regard. Got off quite lightly, though.
M6 crash: Taxi driver spared jail after passenger injuredhttps://www.thewestmorlandgazette.co.uk ... r-injured/A DRUG-driving taxi driver has avoided an immediate prison sentence after a passenger was injured and taken to hospital following a crash on the M6.Jake Bland, of Low Street, Burton-in-Lonsdale, provided a reading of 167 micrograms of Benzoylecgonine after being stopped by police in his Kia Ceed on the M6 northbound on July 2, 2025.
The legal limit for driving with the major metabolite of cocaine is 50 micrograms.
Court records show Bland had driven a 'significant distance' with the passenger who was injured and taken to hospital following a collision on the motorway caused by the defendant’s 'bad driving'
The 36-year-old also confessed he was in charge of his vehicle while double the legal drink driving limit at Queen Elizabeth School’s car park in Kirkby Lonsdale on February 6 this year when he appeared at South Cumbria Magistrates Court.
With his guilty plea, Bland conceded he provided a reading of 70 micrograms of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 35 micrograms.
Magistrates suspended a 14-week sentence for two years with one requirement of completing 120 days of alcohol and abstinence monitoring.
Court costs of £700 and a £154 victim surcharge was also sought.
