I wonder which is the more lucrative, "Law" or "Taxiing". Anyway, it seems we have another budding legal eagle graduating from the Liverpool school of hard knocks. I wonder if this Cabbie will venture into the field of licensing and administrative law? Time will tell?

A BOOTLE cabbie has been given a lift of his own after graduating with a law degree from John Moores university. John Hornby left what is now Savio high school at 16 with four O-levels.
The 41-year-old had always wanted to go to university, but decided to wait until his four children had grown up so he had time to study. Now they are not only adults, with ages ranging from 18 to 25, but John also has five grandchildren. Inspired by fellow taxi driver Chris Johnson, who also completed the course, a determined John applied.
In interview, Huw Thomas, a tutor at John Moores university, tried to persuade John to do a year-long access course to see if it was right for him. John said: "I thought, why waste a year? I'm not getting any younger." He added: "Sometimes I felt like packing it in but Huw always took time to help and encourage me."
Throughout the three-year, part-time course, John kept his meter running, working full-time to pay for fees, books and travel expenses that he estimates totted up to nearly pounds 6,000. "I was often late because I couldn't resist that final fare." Now he plans to do a year-long legal practice course (LPC) and eventually become a solicitor.
