7 taxis drivers that make their living plying for trade in the Cowes area decided to take matters into their own hands when their livelihood became threatened.
Previously these drivers were allowed to park outside the Red Funnel in Cowes and ply for trade until Alpha taxis decided to pay Red Funnel to have exclusive access to plying for trade outside Red Funnel. This means that the remaining taxis not belonging to Alpha have to fight for just 3 remaining taxis spaces outside the Co-op.
Although what the report failed to mention was that these cab drivers deliberately blocked the access to Red Funnel knowing they would get clamped. When Red Funnel/Alpha Taxis asked the clampers to move the taxis, they were told that by law they have to leave them for 24 hours, which the 7 cabbies knew.
I fully support their action and this is just one of many blockades they intend carrying out in the near future.
