I've been a cabby now for thirteen years.

When I started there were 1030 taxis on the road and around 100 private hire.

If customers had a choice over getting a cab nice and easily, or getting a bus full of idiots and being dropped off miles from your house late at night, then really it should be a no-brainer.

Alas the reason many cities now have late night buses is because many customers don't have that choice.

If there was an ample supply of cabs, then only the customers we don't want would use the buses.

But surely 60 - 70% of the country have delimited taxis.....I see equal amounts of subsidies for buses in those places too.

Who owns the buses in these areas?

Stagecoach, First, Arriva....all private companies I guess, but hey, go to the stock exchange and be a part owner yourself

There was 357 in 1999-2000 this figure was quoted by Peter Lang at cooncil HQ.

Now think back to the last time the council pulled the plug.

When was it, and how many Ph were on the road?

The taxi schools were full of Ph sitting the knowledge to get there own cab.

I know because I was there, and I bet the same would happen again. The Ph would be decimated. They wouldn't disappear but a lot of guys would jump ship.

How much over a hundred?

BTW, You own a hack alright, anyone paying a rental not wanting to own a single shifted E7 for £190 a week must be insane. This is where you come in.

Sorry Skull , sorry to disapoint , but no i dont own a hack , i dont drive a hack , the username sort of gives that away .
I have no interest in your arguments with other hackney drivers/owners . My only point is that 13 years ago there was over two hundred phc,s . As i said before , Taylors slavering

So controller I'm slavering?

Well the assertion was anecdotal. I asked the council for the correct figure and, would you believe it, they refused to provide the information.

So the publicity coming may well quote the wrong figure, though I'm at al oss to understand how you can unequivocally state your figure to be correct.

Anyway, even if I'm wrong PH has increase by over 400% while taxis have increased by only 20% in the same time. Hardly dents the argument does it?

There is also a query why you feel the need to denigrate me for making an argument? You have a problem.
