Man robs and attacks taxi driver

The robbery took place in Annan on Friday evening

A cab driver was robbed at knifepoint by a man in Annan after a two-hour taxi journey, police have said.

The incident happened in Scotts Street just before 1930 GMT on Friday.

The taxi driver, from Morecambe, picked up a male passenger in the Lancashire town where he asked to be taken on the journey to Annan.

When he was being dropped off, the man produced a knife, struck the driver on the face and robbed him of £100. Police are seeking witnesses to the incident.

The man is described as about 50 years old, of normal build with a pock-marked face.

He was wearing a dark coloured jacket.

Anyone with information has been asked to contact police.
