Woman's fight for life after taxi fall

A BARNSLEY woman was fighting for her life in hospital today after she
tried to get out of a moving taxi.

The 22-year-old woman was in a black Renault Master taxi on Newstead
Road, Athersley, when she tried to get out of the vehicle as it approached
the Athersley Leisure Centre roundabout.

Police say she suffered serious head injuries in the incident, which
happened at 3.55am on Sunday morning.

The taxi driver, a 29-year-old Barnsley man, called an ambulance. The
woman was taken to Barnsley Hospital where her condition was said to be
life-threatening. A male passenger, aged 21, who was sitting in the front,
was not injured.

I suppose we are all wondering why a person would try to get out of a moving vehicle?
