Just want to pick the brains of the scots. I was thinking of visiting Edinburgh and have heard about a city under the ground and about underground vaults. Are these one in the same or two different attractions and are they worth going to see. I've seen some info on the tinternet but they talk about the city and the vaults as if they are the same thing. Also is Peebles a nice place to stay cos it looks alright on the tinternet and looks quite close to Edinburgh

Peebles is nice but not a lot there, there is a good bus service the 62 in and out of Edinburgh and takes about 35 to 40 mins
Oliver Reed liked it a lot and drank himself sober on quite a few occasions
Melrose would be a better option if you driving as its only an hour away from Edinburgh
