Hackney Carriage Drivers In london are resisting TFL's proposal to replace the current badge worn by Drivers with one that has a photograph of the Driver on it , currently its just a metal badge with no photo so whats the problem with having photographic badge ?????

One informed source suggested it would stop the rampant behaviour of cabbies of renting out their vehicle and supplying the driver with their badge thereby enabling touting, estimates suggest that at any given weekend 200 Black Cab touts are out on the sreets of London TOUTING.

Givem these geniouses do the KNOWLEDGE why do 80% of them have sat navs up and running every weekend ??????????

Surprisingly enough, I think, if you’ve earned something. Then no one should be entitled to take it away. It is yours by right. That’s not to say, you cannot also be issued with photo ID, but if it were me, and that badge was mine, no one would be telling me, I had to give it up, or that it didn’t mean anything. Accepting change is one thing, but doing it on your own terms is something totally different. It’s about who you are.


I can see how some guys, who understand the above would be pis*ed, even if they have trouble articulating it.

I've still got mine knocking about somewhere.

A picture ID badge worn by a driver is proof they HAVE a badge are the badge holder, authorised by the LA to carry passengers

mind you, its meant zilch in some high profile driver rape cases of late

When there is resistance to something and nothing...............then as Trosky indicates they have something to hide!

We have to wear ours and also the same pic has to be displayed on the windscreen..........the only problem is if you are of Ethnic origin and the picture being of "passport" size - you cannot make out who it is at night time!!

I don't think anyone is suggesting that they don't have a photo ID.
