then exempt from the Congestion Charge? My mate's a builder wants to register his van, reckons it'll save him £2000 a year.

I'd ask Blobby about that one, I think you will find the opposite, in fact i'm certain you will find H&R does'nt have to be produced.

The cameras don't check who is driving, it's a well documented loophole that has'nt been closed by TFL or SGS.
Hence the reason they're not in Bus Lanes.

When you take your vehcile for it's test you do not have to produce hire and reward and you don't have to show that your a lincensed PHV driver.
You won't get a transit van licensed though as it will not meet the conditions.

But he wont get exemption unless he is registered as a licensed PH, and he wont get that unless he has a PH badge and a proper PH insurance.

Well you might get a car tested without H&R insurance, but you won't get a plate without H&R insurance surely?

You DO NOT have to be a licensened PHV driver in order to get your vehcile plated. You DO NOT have to show hire and reward insurance.
It's a loophole that is being spoken about in london alot at the moment.

Anyway, what is to stop someone getting hire and reward insurance and once it has been produced, if required, the policy can be cancelled.

Guy did that here a couple of years ago. The Hackney found out when his insurers told them the policy had been cancelled.

Good idea for a family car then? Save a fortune over 3 years if you go in every day.

Possibly, but I would still say it would be cheaper to convert a motor to LPG. :wink:
