Seen as you go on the Manchester Airport Website on a regular basis and the complaints you are making on here, I am suprised you have not noticed the part about Hackney Carriage charging at the airport which is under the new Arrow posting. I would have thought the following sentence copied from Manchester Airport website would have been there previous to the new Arrow sentence.

Hackney Cabs are available outside all three terminals, fares for any journey taken inside the Manchester Licensed Area will be shown on the meter inside the taxi. For journeys outside Manchester there is no requirement for the driver to use the taxi meter to determine the fare. A published tariff of maximum fares is displayed at taxi ranks, and your driver will advise you of the fare (which is negotiable) before beginning the journey.

I wonder why you haven't complained to the airport before about the scruffy drivers and overcharging especially with metered fares and maximum tarriffs displayed for out of town work :?:

I can't speak for other cities other than Leeds but it sounds to me like it's a similar story everywhere - maybe with Manchester airport been on a grander scale a precedent may result( hopefully) because IMO this hasn't happened overnight it's been coming for years ! .... What are our options? .... Deregulation would stop it (gulp) , employing business men full time to run our companies instead of taxi drivers who let's face it can't compete but do their best( well some of them) , bring ph into the hackney companies and have big fleets that generate more funds to compete or ..... Your guess is as good as mine ( or better) but one thing is for sure something needs to happen !!!

Deregulation would make no difference, it is all about business, thinking outside the box. Whilst H/C sit on the ranks moaning about him not doing this and them not doing that, the business men quietly come through the back door whilst you busy moaning and take if from under you.

Thinking outside the box is all very well , but then you have to get that agreed by firstly the other board members and then the shareholders and I'm sure you can appreciate that's where thinking outside the box ends- Mr Arrow and alike make the decision and go with it , if the drivers , staff etc don't like it - bye bye it's my company - too many chiefs and not enough Indians in the hackney trade ! As for deregulation IMO it would end ph !!! It's human nature for 'anyone' wanting money coming to them without little effort( sat on a rank) in ph although we all know they pirate etc there is the onus on having company work and you know as well as I do this is where the trouble starts!

We all know the public think of HC and ph as 'TAXI' but we know different so how do ph get away with advertising as a taxi as in the above contract terms ? ?? And without sounding naive why did whoever invent both ... Well invent both?? Why not just have 'taxi'. ?? It cause more trouble than it's worth IMO !!
