Would that not be covered by STOP?

No stop means you stop but do not leave the vehicle
park means you pull over and stop the engine and possibly leave the vehicle for some time
ply for hire well it means just that

Pick up means you pull over load the passenger and go
it happens here all the time if the punter wants a specific driver or company, drivers even park up waiting for a space 20 meters from the rank and folk still go to them and they take them

Maybe on planet skippy. Anywhere else, stop means exactly that. i.e. cease moving. Park means cease moving and switch off engine.

How exactly do you pick anyone up without doing either of the above?

Do either of these things here and you are in breach of condition 17.
(You would very likely get a fat lip from the guys waiting in the rank as well  )

From Aberdeen's Taxi driver licence conditions:

Quote:
17. The driver of a taxi, while he is in charge of the taxi shall not park, or stop his taxi, nor canvass or importune for employment within 50 metres of any designated taxi stance.

Is that a HC regulation? What if you are PH and you're booked to pick up within 50 metres of a rank

Almost all PH cars up here are driven by the holders of HC drivers licences. Under the 1982 act, the holder of an HC drivers licence can drive HC or PH.

It's a condition of licence skippy.
Until someone takes it to a sheriff and has it deemed unreasonable, it has to be complied with.

Anywhere else have a similar condition?
