a carriage is not obliged to accept a hire outside its prescribed distance.....6 miles from the general post office years ago....possibly from WH Smiths now :wink:

and there is a stated case on street hails :wink:

there's a London case about street hailings.....I think the judge said summat about if a cab driver had to take a passenger everytime he was hailed he'd never get home.

This is the same council that following legal advice decided that they did not need to advertise planning applications in the local press. They got that wrong as well.
