I just wondered how cut throat it is in and around Edinburgh for the Taxi/PH trade? I had a 120 Mile round trip to the airport cancelled today..all because the Customer got offered a price of £60 for the same 120 mile run by an Edinburgh Taxi firm....and thats for a 6.40 am Pick up as well.

How in hells name can anyone make a living out of charging 50 pence a mile in this day and age!!!..it'd hardly cover the fuel and vehicle costs.

When I was in Edinburgh the other week for a couple of days the taxis and ph seemed to be quite mobile. Not sitting around and not many lights on the taxis I saw, so they're either all shopping or all booked.

Scotland generally, with the exception of Dundee seemed quite busy

Aye, 15 cars on Lothian Road rank must be "quite busy".

Same with other ranks.

Let's hope you weren't driving. I hate to think of the carnage caused by myopic drivers like you.

Have to laff though. 5 minutes in the city and you have more knowledge that someone with 20 years working in it.

Guess we'll now get another 10 posts of drivel as you try to justify yourself.

BTW Why exactly have you made over 8000 posts on this forum?

You chattin sh*te again  I never said I had more knowledge than anybody else. If I had caused carnage I'm sure you'd have been one of the first on here to tell everybody what a bad driver you thought I was. I've posted what I've posted cos I can :-|

I dunno...the Edinburgh Public and Tourists alike must delight in the warmth, charm and witty banter that fluently oozes from some of the Scottish capitals highly experienced professional rankers... :?

Must have been a PHC firm, no taxi driver would do the job for that amount. My TX4 would take £30 in fuel alone. We are about £2.40/mile

Even a PH firm would be hard pushed to honour a run for that kind of money...I'd rather not do it and focus on something else, what galls me most is the price I offered in the first place was more than fair...I guess that Im going to hit this more often as some trade numpties are going to cut off their own noses to spite their faces and bugger it all up for the rest of us... :?

Heard a story of a PH that did a job from edinburgh airport to motherwell, Hamilton then Glasgow for £60 so it's quite believable that the deperado PH would do the job you described!

Another child.

Why don't you listen to the argument rather then your own pathetic pash.

We're cutting our throats and the council have us just where they want6 us.

Last night I did £130. That's £100 down on what used to be a normal Friday.

This week I'll be lucky to turn over £550. The owner still gets his £250. I'll have spent getting on for £100 on diesel. That leaves £200 for me.

The minimum wage looks like an unachievable dream for this "self employed" slave.

And this council won't give me the licence I need to improve my lot.

I'm one angry man.

£250 for a street car, dearie me!

For another score, you could get wed-sun with Edinburghs finest!

btw Friday night £304 for 10.5 hrs(plus tips) Happy Easter

When you say, "Edinburgh's finest",i am presuming you mean City cabs :D
A little economical with the truth here i think Mr Klansman
I worked Friday night and just scraped £200 for eleven hours.
Could'nt get on the central taxi's airport rank for the usual suspects :D
and every rank in the town was packed.
So nearly £29 per hour on one of the quietest nights of the year and you are the only taxi to have a great night
I bet you never stopped on Saturday
It's good to see Jim's still earning a good living though

One swallow doesn't make a summer. If the swallow even exists.

BTW I've fired your claim off to HMRC. They say they've noted it and look forward to reading the work of fiction you will present at year end
