I don't think that's quite what happened. You can't offer people, free gear and then arrest them for turning up by invitation. Me thinks, you've got the wrong end of the invite.

Nidge, you are not seriously suggesting the police sent out invites to suspected burglars, offering free gear, and made arrests simply for turning up.

The word is, police across the country have sent out personal invitations to all suspected burglars, p*edophiles and rapists. Asking that they make themselves available at warehouses full of free gear, defenceless children and vulnerable young females.

I got the above from Nidge2. Apparently this is how the police identify criminals. You simply turn up and your finger prints are taken.
