Not at all mr. Gull
I make a point of never using my horn when I'm not speeding.

Clean licence, maximum no claims, decent tariff, why risk your livelyhood by breaking the law? No, I never have been caught speeding, Mr Gull.

Hmm....if you drive down the average motorway you won't have to look hard to see hundreds of drivers exceeding the speed limit, but they are rarely, if ever, caught.

Let's face it, millions of UK drivers have exceeded the speed limit thousands of times, but the vast majority will have been 'caught out' a couple of times at most, if at all.

So your claim doesn't tell us much.

Police are threatening ASBO's on Taxi (PH) drivers who are to idle to get out and knock. The "Taxi" (PH) drivers are calling the police "Stupid" I wouldn't do that if I was them. But it sounds like an Anti Social behaviour order might apply in your case. Go get 'em!

It tells you this:- I have not been caught speeding. In this country I am innocent until PROVEN guilty unless you have evidence to the contrary,
I have NEVER exceeded the legal speed limit in this country. Are you making an allegation against me? If so I may have no choice but to sue.
I demand a withdrawal of this slur upon my reputation. Put up or shut up.

Well that's me told

I wasn't slurring you Jimbo, all I said was that the fact that you told us that you hadn't been caught speeding hardly told us much, since we all know that the instances of speeding that are actually brougth to book are a mere fraction of one per cent.

By the way, I haven't been caught speeding either

By the way, what were you thinking of suing me for Jimbo? :D

I couldn't possibly afford to sue you, I earn too much for legal aid which I couldn't get anyway, and I don't have Archers millions, so you need not worry. But golly gosh, I thought a solicitor would know better than to accuse someone of a crime without evidence of that crime. you have no evidence to back up allegations of my habitual speeding, so therefore I do not ever exceed the speed limit.

I don't think your conclusion necessarily follows from your premise Jimbo.

No one has any evidence of me speeding, but I'd be a fool not to admit that I didn't once do 31 in an 30

Anyway, I repeat that I wasn't accusing you of speeding, all I was saying was that the fact that you have never been caught can hardly be relied on as evidence that you have never speeded.

Do you really think that the amount of times the average driver has been caugth speeding reflects the number of times he has done so? :-k

By the way, you seem to be another of those 'he knows more about the law than me, thus he must be a solicitor' brigage. #-o

Take a chill pill mate, It was a stab at humour. If you were a lawyer you would know that evidence is everything, and that the law of averages is not a law at all. A joke. come on, lighten up! by the way slag me off all you want, I really could care less.

Yes, the problem is that it's difficult to sort the jokes out from the falsehoods sometimes Jimbo, it's a well know problem on the internet, that's why smilies were invented. :D

Yes, I'm not a lawyer, but I know enough to know that the 'balance of probabilities' burden of proof used in civil cases is a lot less rigourous than the 'beyond reasonable doubt' used in criminal cases.

One of the reasons we dont get out and knock the door is because there are places where people smash the window and try to get the takings.

Hmmm i doubt there's many people about at 3am and they are just as likely to smash the window and grab the takings if your sat in the car are they not? Or perhaps a passanger you pick up may try the same? See what im getting at? A lot of maybes there, there is however no maybes about the fact that a select few drivers are ruining my daughters sleep

I understand that it is an offence to sound the horn of a vehicle between the hours of 23.30 and 07.00. There can't be many taxis working between those hours so the culprits should be instantly identifiable. In 13 years in the job I have never blown my horn outstde residential premises. Gets everyone a bad name 8) 8) 8)
