Dusty, in todays money he's doing a total of £168pw on fuel 1200 miles round trip, obviously he brings one back with him from time to time so if we hit a £124pw as his ave fuel bill today @ 45mpg @ £6.30p pg, then there's the insurance £20pw if he's got max bonus, then the service items, £20pw,
But the real thing is how much, you say £60 each way, job should be £120 each way, a business man would ask £90 each way as a special, but I've a feeling our chap is more than likely going for £35 - £45 and picking up the parking himself,
Well at the end of the day we don't know what he's charging, and I'm not sure why people are dissing him other than because he's got an old Mondeo and he's had a bit of luck with it. Those are really the only concrete facts we know other than that he's averaged ten 60-mile airport runs per week.
My point initially was merely to underline that if he's doing ten 60-mile runs per week then he only has to charge £75-80 per run or so and he's earning a decent wage (Note that earlier I said £60 a run
after fuel).
My own motor is no spring chicken these days, but compared to Bernie's it's more like executive hire, yet if someone offered me ten 60-mile runs per week at £80 a shout I'd take their hand off and be better off than I am now. And I don't wear a flat cap. Yet.
