I been to the London taxi and ph show, and I found it quite interesting.

But it was very cramped, and if they have more room eleswhere, then I recommend it to anyone in the taxi game.

Have to say that the quality of vehicles in car park was a marked improvement than a few years ago. Maybe this trade is getting its act together slowly but surely.

can only talk about brighton but the quality of vehicle has never been better.
i think thats because of the cheap deals you can get out of the trade papers.
but the quality of a too large percentage of drivers is not good.

St Andrews is much the same...when I started in 98 the newest cars were about 3/4 and most were about 8 or older.

Now there are few older cars and quite a lot of brand new ones.

From what i can see Dundee has went much thesame way at the same time.

Maybe its a national trend.

you are right most taxis in dundee are under three years old this is down to the credit companies making it easier to get credit in 1998 most cabbies would be lucky if they could borrow a grand now they can borrow thirty grand no questions asked anybody can now go from the dole to a brand new tx11 as long as they are not blacklisted from the credit companies point of view it does make sense loaning money to high risk category people (not cabbies) for every single person who doesnt pay up you can sting another one hundred for the money and still come out on top why do you think catalogue companies never bother chasing all those who write up debts then move to another adress then write up some more?its easy over charge those who do decide to pay fifty bucks for a
thirty buck item plus double the price if they want to spread the payments
even if quarter of them didnt pay up you would still make a profit its the same with banks i dont know about you but not long ago wheverver i applied for a loan i was quickly ushered to the exit now im always called sir and can get a loan in under ten miutes

I don't think they would be too pleased, unless they had no other choice.

I know of a firm that does call back via text, and the punters pay for this. Not a lot of them appreciate that one bit.

As I have never been to the deep north show, is it better/busier than Sandown?

I went to the Telford show, but took a wrong turn. ended up in a Breadvan Warehouse, and it was invaded by a load of Tramps in Trackie bottoms. Fat buggers though, so they eat well round there..

On Rank magazine had a show last year in Strathclyde.

They asked us to put up a notice about it:

Presumably they didn't have one this year, or at least I've never heard about it.

I think they tried a taxi/PH show in Glasgow last year, run by the folks that publish 'On the Ranks'.

Maybe they are doing another this year. :?

I would not touch cab direct with a barge pole, I would rather buy a cab off Auther Daily at least it would run

As they sell all the main vehicles that are used in the PH/taxi game, I think if we didn't touch any of them then we would all be driving around in horse and carts or TXs.

And neither of them are worth a toss.

So you are old enough to have driven a Hansom cab or Growler, and young enough to have experience of the TX. No wonder you have an answer for everything!!
