The Toyota Auris hybrid is supposed to be eco, with £0 road tax, but not all that good on the mpg. The Skoda Octavia diesel with DSG is much more economic.

Didn't Everyone do well out of the war Except us? The Jerries did, The Japs Did, The Russians sorta did and the american's did exceedingly well....but we went into post war austerity :-k

I suppose losing 9 million people in the case of the Germans, 3 million in the case of the Japs and 30 million in the case of Russian kind of spurred them on a bit.

They did not lose them, they knew exactly where they were and why. but where the losers got help to rebuild their broken countries we got nowt.

I'd rather have Diesel emissions than the emissions that come out of the pseudo fechin greenies who virtuously extoll the benefits of others driving leccy cars whilst they themselves are driving council supplied diesel cars and the likes to get to and fro from their homes to their council offices which are always 50 miles away from where they actually live..................Double standards to the bone the lot of them. :x

Because there is a new clause allowing nil tax to good looking drivers. :-$

Or it could be the vehicle is a Eco stop/start version.

I'm just glad I don't have to use the stop/start cos it would drive me around the bend.

Just had a look on the car tax site and it appears the £0 is only for one year.

It's £30 a year after that.

Can you disable the stop start?

If its like the VW, there's a button to switch it off.

I think most of them have an off option...just as well as stop start traffic would quick feck up a Starter motor sharpish in most cities, and just think how much extra fuel it uses to start each time, probably more than if you left it idling.

That's what I was thinking, the starter motor must be getting a hammering.

Well clearly the government aren't as crazy as I first thought. More fuel more tax. Make cars eco friendly by switching it off at lights and using more fuel to start it again, add that to speed bumps and more traffic lights they're on to a winner. That said with a vehicle full of plastic how eco friendly are these vehicles in reality  If they really wanted to be eco friendly they would be putting things in place to encourage people out of their vehicles but then if they did that think of all the tax they'd lose, it's just lip service in my opinion. To save a lousy £105 per year on road tax I'd rather have my pug which is wonderfully fuel efficient :D

Yes, by pushing a button.

Alternatively you can never use it in the first place.

Had the car 4 days and only used it twice to see if it works, else never use it.

Its an Odd world that Car Designers inhabit, they Build in Useless weighty crap like Stop start components and its heavier duty starter, Self Parking Gadgetry, Various engine Valves and spurious Motors that open and close the Tail lid etc.....Then they'll say to save Weight and Fuel and emissions the Car will not have a spare wheel??? fechin Doolally the lot of them #-o
