Driving around in 2nd gear isn't going to be much fun especially those who have manual gearboxes, it's going to also increase fuel usage, costing us motorists more money.

Don't forget the added pollution due to driving in 2nd gear.

Pollution, It's been pointed out Nidge but our council are not listening, I wish they would trust drivers more and pedestrians less, pedestrians have the right of way, so surely the solution would be better to do away with pedestrian crossings and bring in more Zebra crossings, at least with a Zebra you can see what's happening, being held up at traffic lights when there is not a car or pedestrian in sight is a nightmare.

20 it is then...though how it will make much difference when your bloody lucky to reach 20mph in town anyway....as for parking..forget it..

Other than for work i'll probably go to Newcastle and spend my money there, it's a bit more car friendly and i'll reccomend others to do likewise....feck them.

That's exactly what will happen, punters will boycott Edinburgh city centre, fined for doing 23mph and charged extortionate parking fees, as skull would say you couldn't make this up.

Some laughable but annoying spin in justifying 20 is plenty, they haven't got a clue about the reality of what they are promoting, I just had a Twitter debate with these crusaders, read it @DougBrownCabbie is my Twitter account

Real traffic management in action, proving traffic lights are the root of all congestion

Copy&paste to all local authorities if you like how they manage their roads.
