The 1976 ACT states if a private hire vehicle is fitted with a meter it has to be sealed and tested by the Council or their appointed agent.

As previously stated the definition of a meter is any DEVICE for calculating the fare by time or distance.

Back to that rank myth again. The word 'sealed' doesn't appear in that section.
