OK, I've asked the office and they've said they had to inform the LA of it's fare structure (wanted to charge less than the council rate), but couldn't charge the lower rate until after the LA had been told. And had to wait until the LA acknowledged they had recieved the notification.

In other words they couldnt charge differently until the LA had been made aware of its proposals.

Did they have to inform/wait, can a PH company just start charging whatever they want without telling the LA ?

They can charge what they like, when they like, they do not have to inform the LA.

At the other end of the scale, Dover District Council has licenced some 2 seat Smart cars as private hire.

Yes.

That may be a local requirement but it has no standing in law.

The question that I would ask is what offence would be committed if a PH company didn't inform the council of the rates it's charging?

Lincoln taxi users could soon be turning heads after a local firm was granted a white Lamborghini as its latest hire car.

City of Lincoln Council has granted Handsome Cabs a private hire licence for the supercar pictured below.

Handsome Cabs, along with City of Lincoln Council have announced that the supercar has been granted a private hire licence.

Not your average cab - we’ve granted @HandsomeCabs a private hire licence for a Lamborghini!

The Lamborghini is available for one passenger only and will be run on a limited service.

To hire the car customers will be charged at a premium rate though it is designed to be a cheaper alternative as supercar transport to weddings and proms normally require hiring the car, rather than being used as a taxi.

Lincoln taxi firm Handsome Cabs (2011) Ltd has been made bankrupt, but will continue to trade.

The firm, which runs from 21/23 Clasketgate in Lincoln, was officially made insolvent on June 6.

On May 24, 2018, a petition was published on London Gazette stating the company had been presented with a High Court order and winding up request from HM Revenue and Customs on April 18.

Creditors of the company were then heard at the High Court in London on June 6, where insolvency was confirmed.

Trading as usual

Handsome Cabs told reporters the firm is now under new management and will continue trading from Handsome Cabs Ltd. No drivers have been affected by the change.

This comes after the firm was the first company in the city to introduce a ‘supercar taxi’, when it received a license for its 17-plate Lamborghini, valued between £200,000 to £250,000, in June 2017.

A spokesperson for Handsome Cabs confirmed that Handsome Cabs (2011) Lincoln Ltd ceased trading in November 2017 and was deemed insolvent as of June 6, 2018.

“A new company under new management began trading under the legal entity, Handsome Cabs ltd, in November 2017 also.

“All the drivers and staff remain the same and we are still open for business as usual,” they said.

Third time in twenty years Handsome Cabs (ugly drivers) have gone bust.

There’s something rotten in the state of Danesgate, to misquote Shakespeare.

Might be worth looking at companies house and seeing what they have on him I would guess he's got a string of dissolved companies

it is a nonsense that you can keep on setting up and dissolving companies and walking away without having to pay your debts no wonder the uk is the money laundering capital of the world
