Taxi Driver Online

In the seven years that I have been a Councillor the only expenses that I have claimed were for a taxi from St Pancras to an event that the Council sent me to and the taxi journey back to St Pancras.

I would say you are the exception not the rule then as many local councillors have admitted receiving £10K + in expenses annually

In the last financial year only 2 councillors here claimed any expenses. One of them for taxis home from meetings at night in the dark because they don't drive.
The total for all 28 Councillors was £67.75

I would hope councillor allowances should cover normal expenses, especially if a councillor has an additional allowance for undertaking a senior position.

Down here the top councillor gets £46,000 a year.

The figures that I quoted are slightly skewed in that because we had no physical meetings that year none of the Councillors could claim mileage for attending meetings. Some of the rural Councillors do normally claim around £500 per year for travelling to meetings.
