I'm impressed, not many police forces would go to that extent to apprehend the perpetrator?

I have just returned home this morning 2.30 am after having a runner, fare £36.80 plus £20 waiting time,
He called and asked to be picked up from Duns in the borders, and he wanted to go to Galashiels but changed his mind and went to New-town St Boswells, I stopped outside what I thought was his house and he said he would get the money then disappeared, so I called the Police and they came out within 10 mins, and checked the area, they then called for a dog and within 5 Min's the dog had him he was hiding in some bushes, he will appear at Selkirk sheriff court in the morning. daft bugger gave me the post code of the house he was at in Duns, so I used the tom tom,as it was way out of my area, but he met me in the town square, and he was caught on camera, and the police went to the house and got his name and address.

Well done Skippy, Soooh glad he was caught - but what a difference in forces - if only they were all the same!

I only hope you do not have to wait for your money at £1 per week

Let us know the result.

Don't you take the cash up front?

No cash no go…unless of course there’s a good quality mobile phone.

Skull, normally I would if I was going out of my area, but as he was coming back into it, and on a Monday night you just don't expect that sort of thing to happen, especially as he was not p issed and was about 40 years old, but as the saying goes, sheeit happens.

I have never been bumped and did not have a sneaking suspicion that it was going to happen. I chose to ignore my instincts.

Words to live by “If there is any doubt there is no doubt” I don’t know who said this but truer words are hard to find.

I can’t help but get the feeling you knew all along....

I'm not trying to wind you up but tell me again you never suspected anything?

Not a thing Skull, and your right even though the punter looks genuine they should never be trusted, he came to the cab in Duns and said he needed to get some cash from the atm, the bank was only 10 yards from me,and I had his phone number on the mobile, I'm extremely lucky that the police in the borders take running seriously, or I would be out of pocket and learned the hard way.

Got an attempted runner in court once,on "Making off without Payment", however he got off with it because I stopped him getting into his house so it should heve been "Attempting to Make off without......", those legal buggers just love to quibble about definitions  .

These days I tend to "sort the problem out" myself.

I had a runner, but he was that stupid he ran into his hotel !,the police were already in thier way [two police cars] due to the fact he was bashing on the cab window as I spoke to the police controller, after studying the hotel cctv footage they found out what room he was in,he resisted arrest so out he came in hand cuffs...
End result £250 in fines,a criminal record,£85 compensation to me,and prior to going to court he payed up his fare at the taxi office.

it is the little Ba----ds that pre meditate that they are going to to a runner that rattle me The red mist comes up ,I flattened one from a group of four last friday night as they ran thier separate ways.wrong I know but satisfying.
