Let’s get something straight. Councillors will not take to the witness box to defend a decision to deny a taxi licence. Especially with Edinburgh’s burgeoning economy and no increase in taxi licences for 5 years. It won’t happen. The Jacobs report would be ripped to pieces and so would the councillors. It would be a career end-er for any politician to face that level of scrutiny.

The last survey in March cost nearly £20,000 for 3 days just to produce a pile of bum wipe. There is no prospect of the council paying 20K every month or even every 3 months to keep the cap on. If they could they would be doing it already.

Then you have to consider the Interested Parties List IPL. They can’t issue off it in isolation. Anyone can apply the minute demand is recognised. They would end up back in court with a useless survey unable to deny applicants their licences.

Then there’s the 50K plate value, it’s ludicrous to suggest there is no significant demand when people are paying that kind of money for a licence. As long as there’s a cap on plates the value will increase and the council can’t have that, because that’s what’s got them in this position in the first place. The more drivers the fewer shifts the higher the rentals the greater the hike in plate premiums. The council’s policy to cap numbers is at an end.

Take it from me; de-restriction is just around the corner.

BTW, the Cab Office is going out to tender, now what does that tell you?

Get your licence application in now. It's game over. The council have no where to run and no demand information to deny your licence application.

Anyone out there seen Kevin (The Predator) Young? I know the poor boy is in a sh*t load of debt with very little prospect of paying it off. Not that he would have anything to show if he did manage to pay it off – a fat load of nothing is nothing after all.

I’m thinking around 85K of debt inclusive of ineterest with 4 years still to pay.

All that pain

Picture the scene; over 20K a year plus tax off the top of your earnings for 4 years just to clear off your debt?

Poor old Kevin (The Predator) Young; my spies tell me he lost the whole kit and caboodle before and his wife emptied him. I get the feeling that Mr. Young is a bit of a slow learner.

Do you think he’s told her about his little 85K problem?

I think not…
