You must run with some pretty poor solicitors, if they give you information about their clients' cases.... you keep assuming that I attend the meeting of minds Meetings..... I would have nothing to offer........ maybe some people have found it advisable to be cautious when answering the phone......

We on TDO know the good solicitors we also know the bad.

I think Miss Connolly is heading for a huge fall in this pink ladies issue and one that will instantly kill any credibility she perceived she had in the Taxi trade.

I think she will carry the legacy of the women who killed pink ladies. Maybe that might not be a bad legacy if you are a licensed cab driver.

However all us real cab drivers note your stand on the issue.

Regards

JD

Good , any solicitor that gives information about their clients' cases should be struck off. I am sorry to see you disagree. goodnight

I don't think anyone disagrees with client privilege, least of all me but we are not talking of client privilege we are talking about existing statutory legislation. If there is such legislation that allows for a vehicle to operate as unlicensed private hire then Miss Connolly need not be afraid to state the obvious. If it is legal then she has nothing to be concerned about, has she?

The problem is this, Connolly is an upstart who knows very little about Taxi licensing and I can assure you that she is going to get her backside tanned in Warrington and when she does she will lose any credibility she ever thought she had in the taxi trade outside of Liverpool. Take it from me.

Regards

JD

Just a guess here but I would expect that Miss Connelly has been paid by the Pink Ladies for her opinion. Do you expect her to now give anyone the same opinion without payment? That would be extremly naieve wouldn't it. Solicitors make a fortune out of "selling" opinion so tell me what would be in it for her to just give it away? With all the stick that the Pink Ladies have had from the trade I also don't expect that they will be happy to give away what they have paid for.

How does a PH office work out the fares? Do drivers complain about them?

The PH office work out the fare by entering your post code into their computer system, they tell you how much the journey will cost and then you pay them at the office, before you get in the car, they then issue you with a car number and you go outside and find your car which means it is pre boked, and yes the drivers do complain because it is all account work which they receive payment for at the end of the month.

So its not an all in one ticket.

The hire is separate from the train journey. The passenger has to book with a Taxi or a private hire company. How many people are going to go through that rigmarole when they can just walk out onto the concourse and jump into one on the Rank?

Regards

JD

I was replying to how the Ph office work out the fare, I presume the train company would have the same software and when the punter books the train ticket he would give his postcode and be given the ticket price includine his cab fare, as our friend Sussex says what is to stop the punter then "changing his mind" about his destination and asking to be taken to a different destination, it is unlikely to get off the ground in York as only 54 of the 117 taxis who work the rank have station radios so the punter may get into a cab with his credit note which would be worthless in half the cabs.

But we were talking about bullet tickets from York Station, perhaps you were in two threads at once, anyway thank you for the explanation.

No it was on this thread. You will find JD's quote in his post on page 1, 8 from the bottom.
