I got my figures wrong!
It's 24,600 drivers for London and 47,000 for outside London.

Outside London is the rest of England and Wales. These figures do not include Scotland or NI

According to my sums....


Scotland has 24,885 licensed taxi drivers driving 10,402 licensed taxis and London has 24,600 licensed taxi drivers driving 21,600 licensed taxis.

Therefore Scotland has 285 more drivers,but London has 11,198 more taxis.

This sounds right as most of the 11,198 taxis are empty and in front of me....

Many of Scotland's licensed taxi drivers drive PH. A Hack drivers licence here allows you to do either. Hence the high ratio of drivers to taxis.
