Nowt wrong with a Beep, if its an offence to do when the Vehicles stationary then do it as you creep slowly forward in gear...the Customer often says "give us a Blast on the horn when you arrive"..

And if the customer said to drive through the town at 100 mph would you do that as well!

Must be nice never to have broken a single law....I guess ive lead a bad life, beeping a horn now and again....doing 63 MPH in a 60 zone....31 MPH in a 30 Zone, Pre-Empting the occasional red light at rural road works....the occasional late use of Indicators, I guess Im a Bad, Bad boy......then again...Im not selective i guess...

If you read my comments again, you will see I said company a one man band is a sole trader not a company.

A sole trader can quite easily text or phone his passenger upon arrival at the public house or shopping centre or if its from a house/office he could get off his fat ar*e and knock on the door which is a bit more proffessional than tooting your horn.

Some good points, but I think it's the medium sized outfits that are the problem - in St Andrews the offices are about a dozen or so car max, and all still work manual systems, presumably because it's uneconomic for offices of that size to used data systems. When it's busy and one person is answering the phone and controlling a dozen cars calling back manually isn't really a feasible option.

However, call-back is a good system when it can be used, IMHO, and as a last resort I think moderate use of the horn is reasonable, since you can spend longer finding different addresses than actually doing the job.

In that respect the problem isn't just lazy drivers buy lazy punters who probably enjoy making it as difficult as possible for the drivers to find them.

I see what you're saying, but strictly speaking your terminology is a bit iffy.

A one-man band could be set up as a company, whereas a big dispatch office could be owned by a sole trader or partnership.

Also, I'm not usually one to point out minor spelling mistakes - cos we all do it - but I just love it when when people spell professional with two Fs

I don't have problem finding punters they are usually sat next to me in my taxi and if they ain't I go without them, then see how lazy they are when they have to walk

With regard to the data systems that provide 'callback' these are not cheap choices for firms that have anything less than 50 drivers.

I never beep my horn, I send a text and if I get no POB within 5 minutes I call them. If I don't have thier phone number I get out and knock/ring intercom(which I don't mind as I can stretch my legs).
