There are probably many factors which contributed to the unfortunate death of this young lad.
If working 14 hours was one of them, it would be foolish to ignore it.
Who can say that it wasn't a factor? If the driver had been fresher and more alert, would he have managed to avoid the lad?
We may never know.

As sussex said, telling the father he'd been at work 14 hours, and actually doing 14 hours.

I agree entirely, nothing can be ruled out. There are many factors at work here and until the case goes to court then everything that is said as unproven fact, is pure speculation.

Yeah but he's only a baby and probably engaged his mouth before he engaged his brain and I have no reasonable excuse as to why anybody would want to do 14 hours

We have some owners and drivers that have to get up early to do school contracts then keep on working to make a wage and to cover fuel and other running costs then work until 3.30 AM the next day especially on a Thursday and Friday

Keeping a roof above ones head and feeding a family are normally good excuses.

Personally if I need to work 14 hours (which I obviously wouldnt), I would have at least 3 breaks at home of at least one hour each, maybe longer if there was something decent on Sky.

You're probably right if the money has to be earned then the hours have to be done until it is. I think a more sensible way of working long shifts should be advocated and perhaps Mr T could introduce them to his classmates next week

I only start at 6PM to midnight and 4AM at weekends and take 2 days off unless there is a long run to do.
And go for a coffee break about 1AM

PS try 906 onward from 10 pm or 915 up and down

I think it's better to have Brake on your side when dealing with the authorities.

When they are against your position it's best not to mention them to said authorities.
