That's not how it works, Gusmac.

The Oil-producing nations agree, a price for oil, say $100 a barrel, to meet demand at a specific rate of production. Faced with a global slowdown, you should see a drop in oil production, but not necessarily a fall in the price of a barrel. They are not in the business of giving the stuff away. However, increasing production when global demand is falling, forces the price of crude down. Therefore, it doesn't make sense to keep on pumping, unless your plan is to see a massive increase in the price. Now remember, Iranian oil production is dropping off. What do you think will happen if conflict is threatened with Iran in the Strait of Hormuz?

I'll answer the question for you. You will have to pay a fortune at the pumps while Iran cops the blame for the global crisis.

Those in power have got their war, and their fall guy, while you are distracted and have someone to blame for your ever increasing hardship.

Everyone's a winner, except Iran. Well, someone has to lose. #-o

In the end, a war with Iran would only cause a blip in the oil price. The real purpose would be to get the oil flowing towards the instigator(s) of the war. Getting rid of a political pain in the arse is just a bonus.
BTW, you don't know what OPEC's target price is

I wouldn't argue with the rest of your scenario, because your probably right. Nothing like a war to stimulate an economy.

Trust me, a war with Iran will send oil prices soaring, and I definitely think the Saudi's have been promised something big, to force oil prices down. There's been a deal done somewhere. :-|

For what Iran refuses to sell to the west, China, Korea and India snap it up.

Can't see ANY oil producing nation suffering any boycott, as there's always another country willing to step in to buy it.

No chance, oil is a finite resource, there is simply not enough to go around. We need it, and they have it, and as long as we are almost totally dependent on oil, wars will be fought to control its supply. Although, in this case, I think it's about the dollar as the worlds reserve currency, and what America stands to lose when the whole system collapses. How can you buy oil and fight wars, when the dollar isn't worth squat?

So the system has to be reset with America still on top as the Global Super Power.

I think this is why Saudi Arabia is more than happy to lend a hand because America is a huge consumer of oil, and they have all the weapons. It's a bit of a, you scratch my back... situation. That's why the Saudis are pumping oil faster than they ever have and why America has Iran between the cross hairs.

Think of America with a worthless dollar and not enough oil? I'm sure you get the picture. Oh and I should add, we're [edited by admin] also because our currency is tied in with theirs. #-o

Oh and before anyone says, it's about Iran acquiring Nuclear weapons, it's all bollix. America has more high tech conventional and Nuclear weapons, than Iran has ever dreamed about. :-|

In short, it's about who has the biggest toys and controls almost all the oil, wins. :)

Iran is not selling. It's being embargoed, or it will be very shortly. :-|

Those who can, do.

Those who can't, waste 10 minutes every morning shaving.

Iran isn't going to be selling to anyone if the Americans have their way, and that's the point. It's effectively and act of War, to put the Kibosh on a sovereign nation. China and Russia might not be happy but as long as their oil supply doesn't dry up, they aren't about to go toe-to-toe with America or their allies. This game is really starting to heat up.

Oh and I don't think your leccy car, will make much of a difference to what they've got planned.
